Tell Us Your Travel Tips for Dublin
The new Hack Your City is a-bubblin’And so all of you, we will be anxious to share all our tips and incomprehensible jokes for a city that is not Limerick: Dublin.
Did you know that it is difficult to write even very bad limericks? And did you know that the north side of Dublin (about the same as the River Liffey) is considered the more “Irish” side , and the south the more luxurious, “West British” side?
Dublin readers, please tell us about this rift and how it manifests itself, whether it has changed, and any other cultural rifts that affect your life in the city. Also, what are the common misconceptions about the city? The long Wikivoyage guide to Dublin says, for example, that the city gets a bad reputation for its rainy weather .
And to help visitors to Dublin – and you unfortunately can’t stop them by saying “Don’t go to Dublin” – can you tell us what is worth visiting, what to avoid, or what is it worth taking a long trip for? What’s especially good for James Joyce fans, history buffs, families, or parties? What should people avoid if they don’t want to annoy the locals?
What museums, restaurants, pubs, and other places are overlooked? Which public places are the most beautiful and which hidden treasures are the best? And what are these overrated travel traps that other commentators foolishly recommend?
How can you get around the city, get good customer service and handle the right staff and meet people? What mispronunciation or other mistakes should visitors avoid? What are the characteristics of daily life in Dublin compared to your experiences in America, Europe, the UK and even the rest of Ireland? And when you want to get out of Dublin, where do you go? What makes a good retreat or day trip?
Finally, what can you do for the locals? What tourists will never know and use, such as the best neighborhoods available, local laws, morning commute strategies?
Until then, goodbye Irish readers,
…
Haha, no, I’m not going to make you read another limerick. Just leave your comments below and we’ll highlight the best in a new post on Thursday.
