Sunsama Is a Trello Calendar for Your to-Do List
I discovered Trello a few years ago, and since then I have been organizing things differently than I used to. In case you’re unfamiliar, Trello is a digital tool that essentially lets you create lists of items, where each item is a separate card. This week I stumbled upon another service that caught my attention with a similar look: Sunsama. It’s a calendar app built to look and feel like Trello, and I absolutely love it.
I usually describe Trello to new users (read: the people I force to use it because it’s cool) as a kind of whiteboard with notes underneath. Individual items can be dragged from list to list, and each card can be opened and added information about it. For example, I use this service to organize my story ideas and include information such as source contact information or notes about what I think about a story in the notes section.
Sunsama works in a similar way, except that each list is a day on your calendar, and the items below it are the things you need to do during the day. It’s kind of a calendar-based to-do list that helps you stay organized and get things done with a familiar setup (assuming you’re already on the Trello train).
Like Trello, the service can be used by individuals or groups. You can see what the people on your team are working on or accomplished in a day, and if you don’t complete what you planned for the day, the task will automatically move on to the next. The tasks you complete will forever be tied to the day you completed them, making it easy for you to come back and see how productive you were each week, or remember when you actually finished this big project.
It’s not a calendar replacement, but rather a super-powerful to-do list. Unlike Trello, there is currently no mobile app, so you need to access your account through the service’s desktop app.
If you use it to complete less than 100 tasks per month, then you can use the service for free. If you are a power user and need to manage something big (or you want to involve a team), then you have to pay for it. Unlimited Challenge Custom plans start at $ 5 per month.
