Get Started With # The100DayProject

If you did a simple creative act every day, what would you have after 100 days? On April 3, # The100DayProject starts, which invites you to answer this question for yourself. Past members have done 100 days of collages , pompons , illustrated quotes, andpublic dancing .

You can choose any action or goal you like and it’s ok to start in the middle if you missed the start but want to join. Here’s what some of us at Lifehacker are doing:

  • I do 100 drawings of people and everyday objects because I would like to better capture what is happening around me. I’ll post them on Insta (I’m @bethskw ).
  • Staff Writer Nick Douglas ( @toomuchnick on Twitter) will write 100 scripts from a single scene . “I’m co-writing a comedy podcast called Roommate from Hell (about a man and a demon who are friends), and as soon as we launch it in May, we need to release a LOT of material.”
  • Associate editor Alice Bradley ( @finslippy ) used to do this abstract painting project, but this year she’s doing 100 sketches of everyday objects instead. “I want to go back to the habit of painting every day and not worry about creating a masterpiece or something like that.”
  • Parenting editor Michelle Wu ( @woopics ) will be posting one evolving thought (with additional text appearing in each scene) as an Instagram story every day . “I love Instagram stories because they give people a peek behind the scenes of your life, but I definitely haven’t used them to the fullest. It will be a little fun experiment. “
  • Cooking and Drinking Editor Claire Lower ( @clairelizlower ) will write 100 paragraphs about something other than food , “because it’s good for me to practice non-food writing to keep my brain flexible.”

You don’t have to post your work, but if you do, Instagram is the place to go. ( Check your # the100dayproject stuff .) When choosing your adventure, remember that on some days you will be tired and busy. Small actions still count! For more ideas and inspiration, check out these tips from last year’s assignment .
