Do This 10-Minute Workout in an Airplane Seat
The modern paradox is that we gain the freedom to fly through the air only when we are temporarily squeezed shoulder to shoulder with other people. But you probably have a little wiggle room in that seat, and doing some exercise can help ease that feeling of tightness.
Staying on the move is good for your health. The American Hematology Society notes that if you want to prevent blood clots, the main risk of sitting for long periods, it is best to get up and walk every couple of hours if possible. The next best thing, they say, is to change your seating position.
So watch this video the next time you get stuck in that middle seat. In it, Andrea, Founder and CEO of Personal Training App and / life (free download, $ 19.99 / month subscription) walks you through 10 minutes of stretches and muscle contractions that will make your body feel like it’s moving, even if you’re kind of stuck in one place.
