How to Use Google Lens on Your IPhone
Earlier this month, Google made Google Lens available for Android devices other than the Pixel, and this week it finally started rolling out the feature to iOS devices such as the iPhone and iPad.
Google Lens is a photo recognition tool built into Google Photos that can provide additional information about what you are photographing.
For example, if you take a photo of the Coit Tower in San Francisco, reviews and contact information for that landmark appear. A business card snapshot interprets the information it sees and gives you the option to add it to your phone, the same for event invitations, which can be automatically added to your calendar from an image.
This feature debuted last year on the Google Pixel.
To get it on your iPhone, you need to download the latest version of the app first (you need version 3.15 for this). From there, you launch the app and select a photo. When the photo is uploaded, you need to click the Google Lens button below it. It is a square, similar to the Instagram logo.
Once it recognizes what is in the photo, it will provide you with any additional information about the subject of your photo. It doesn’t work for everyone, but when it does, it’s pretty cool.
