What to Do With Coffee That You Haven’t Finished
I love coffee, but my mind and body are easily overwhelmed with caffeine, so I often end up with a cup or so of leftover java (do people still call it that?) By the time it’s noon. It is usually too stale to drink by then, but it still finds use.
- Coffee syrup: Heat two cups of white sugar in one cup of coffee, stirring occasionally, until it dissolves. Use syrup to flavor cocktails (obviously), add it to vanilla ice cream, or drizzle with chocolate milk.
- Coffee ice cubes: It is better to dilute iced coffee with slightly stale coffee than dilute it with water. Pour the coffee into the ice cube tray and freeze like regular ice cubes.
- Coffee popsicles: Mix as much coffee with condensed milk as you have to taste, then pour into ice cream molds or (again) ice cube trays.
See? It is sometimes beneficial to be a delicate flower that cannot finish the whole pot, even if it embarrasses your family of caffeine addicts. Everything works, since I can distract them from my weak constitution with the help of coffee syrup; everyone loves coffee syrup.
