Don’t Use Gordon Ramsay’s Trick to Avoid Speeding up Tickets
Follow Gordon Ramsay’s culinary tricks , not his traffic tricks. Ramsay claims (or jokes) that he covers his license plates with plastic wrap to avoid traffic cameras as he drives his Ferrari through Los Angeles in the middle of the night. This is of course illegal in California , as it is in many states. This may not work either.
According to MythBusters, any kind of clear film or cover won’t hide your license plate from cameras any better than it will hide them from people. But according to the New York Daily News, these covers sometimes work. A traffic spokesman told News that more than a hundred vehicles were avoiding traffic cameras by illegally covering their license plates.
But even if it works, it’s a stupid move, it’s dangerous and illegal in most of the country. So even if you cheat on a traffic camera, a police officer can issue a fine for you just for using the cover.
So don’t drive dangerously! If you can afford a Ferrari or a Nine , you can also afford to take it on a private track, or at least a location remote enough that there are no traffic cameras. And if you can’t afford a Ferrari, you definitely can’t afford the wrongful death charge.
