Most Inspiring Fitness Goals for 2018 by Readers
We asked about your fitness goals for the year ahead , and it looks like 2018 will be full of amazing events as you try new things and take your current habits to the next level. Here are some goals that might inspire the rest of us.
Start simple
Getting into a habit is the first step in everything fitness-related. A solid plan gives you something to build on, and bodyweight exercises are free and effective .
Become a rival
If you’ve been practicing for a while, why not move on to a competitive level? If you’ve been jogging, you can sign up for a race. If you’ve been weightlifting, you can show how strong or good you look.
Faster
If you’re already tracking metrics in cycling, rowing, or anything else, set some achievable goals and keep track of those numbers! If this is your first time racing in 2017, try to be ahead of your time in 2018.
Go in for sports
Now is a great time to return to the sport you once played or take up a new one. If this goal inspires you, but you’re unsure of where to start, try our guide to sports accessible to adult beginners .
Bring your workout home
Gyms and classrooms are great for introducing a workout and providing instructions and equipment. But once you know what you need and how to use it, consider finally building a home gym .
Pursue your goal for the year
The decisions may last for maybe a month, but the one-year goal will help you move towards December. If rowing is none of your business, can you run 500 miles? Go to the gym 100 times?
To take care
The goals should not be to do more and lift weights. Sometimes it is best to change your focus, especially if you are dealing with trauma or other difficulties. Changing roles or learning a new skill can give your mind a chance to focus while your body recovers.
