How to Get an IPhone X Refund If Face ID Isn’t Working
Face ID on the iPhone X works great most of the time, although it seems to have some issues with distinguishing between family members . But what if Apple’s new facial recognition technology can’t tell you apart from some random person, like your coworker?
According to a report from China , this is exactly what happened to one woman when her colleague was able to easily unlock her iPhone X in a few tries. The woman reportedly managed to get a refund, but Apple hasn’t made it easy.
She first called Apple Help to explain the problem, but her request was ignored. Therefore, she and her colleague went to the nearest Apple Store to personally demonstrate the error. At that point, the report said Apple offered a refund, which the woman used to buy a new iPhone X. But when the same thing happened again, she took the device back to get a second refund.
Speaking to HuffPost , an Apple spokesman said they could not confirm the news. However, they speculated that the two women may have used the iPhone X’s password training to trick him into recognizing two different faces. Again, it may have really been a Face ID glitch.
Anyway, the lesson seems to be that if Face ID isn’t working, you can probably get a refund for your iPhone from Apple, but you’ll need to prove it in person at your local Apple Store first.
