How Food Talk Affects Your Dating Profile
People love food, and people might like you more if you mentioned the right food on your dating profile. According to one of the largest dating sites, these are products to mention and ones to avoid talking about.
To get their data, Zoosk analyzed over 3.7 million dating profiles and over 364 million first messages, in addition to polling over 7,000 singles, to see how food affects online dating interactions. It turns out that food can have a very powerful effect. If you want your dating profile to stand out from others, mentions of foods like guacamole, potatoes, chocolate, lettuce, and sushi were associated with higher average inbox rates. Just don’t mention the sweet potato. They accounted for a 70% reduction in incoming messages.
Zoosk also found that certain foods should be avoided when it’s time for a first date. Worst of all were buffalo wings, ribs, Indian food, and anything difficult to pronounce. You might want to chill out on the dirty stuff and stick with the classics that you both know and love. Their data shows that seafood, steaks, Mexican dishes, pasta, and sushi are what people want on their first date.
And if you’re a fan of Netflix’s The Master of Nothing , you probably remember his standard opening message: “Going to Whole Foods, would you like me to get you something?” Yes, don’t try – unless you are a woman. This line has been tried by over 3600 people with average results. However, women responded 31% more, so give it a try if you like. You can read the full report at the link below.
