Use the Google Password Alert Extension to Prevent Phishing
Phishing attacks, in which scammers impersonate legitimate companies to trick you into handing over sensitive information such as usernames, passwords or credit card information, are becoming increasingly difficult to detect. Even Google is susceptible to more sophisticated attacks that are popping up in everything from email attachments to shared Google documents.

The Password Alert extension for Google Chrome is designed to prevent phishing attacks from hacking your account before you even notice. Password Alert works by temporarily storing a modified, partially randomized version of your password in your browser. Each time you enter your password, the extension compares your password to the saved version and checks if the site is a legitimate Google login page. According to Google, there are no keyloggers here, which means you don’t have to worry about the extension monitoring your input to determine when you enter your password. Password notification also works for multiple profiles in the same Google Chrome browser, so you can protect both your work and personal account.
If Password Alert detects a potential phishing site trying to gain insight into your personal Google account information, you will be prompted to reset your password to keep yourself safe, or you will be prompted to ignore the warning.
Password notification is a much needed extra layer of security, especially if you haven’t already linked your account to a two-factor authentication app like Google Authenticator or Authy. Of course, SMS verification is just the beginning, but there is always a risk that your number will be stolen, and if this happens, you are largely out of luck.
