Happy Hour With 3 Ingredients: Very Simple and Nice Highball Scotch
Happy weekend everyone, and welcome back to Happy 3 Ingredient Hour , a weekly drinks column featuring very simple yet delicious libations. This week, I want to talk to you about a deceptively simple but very healthy cocktail: the Scottish highball.
I don’t really like Scottish cocktails, mainly because I don’t want to be yelled at by old people who are offended that I will dilute alcohol in one way or another. But the Scottish highball is superbly edible and so elegant in its simplicity that it deserves a place in your “after a long day at the office” routine. (It’s also strikingly light in color, but don’t worry – it’s got two ounces of booze.) To make this business drink, you’ll need:
- 2 ounces of your favorite whiskey (start with a blend if you don’t want to “waste” your good foods.)
- Extremely cold club soda
- A strip of lemon zest, if you like
Pour your scotch tape into a highball, fill that highball with ice, and fill it all with cold crispy soda. Stir and immerse yourself in the sizzle. Squeeze the oil out of a strip of lemon zest over the drink before pouring it into the highball. Drink immediately.
