Gmail Add-Ons Let You Use Trello, Quickbooks and More Right in Gmail
The first thing I do every morning is to launch Gmail on my computer. Although I use a ton of different tools to get my job done, it all starts with my email – it’s sort of a hub for all my tasks. And starting today, Gmail can become an even more important hub with the launch of Gmail add-ons .
Gmail add-ons let you use a variety of apps and services right in your Gmail account. Google is launching this feature today with a few options, but plans to add a ton more to your inbox.
The add-ons work on both the desktop version of Gmail and Android. Here are today’s additions (via Google):
Asana: Turn conversations with customers, clients and teammates into tasks that you can track with your team in Asana, all from your inbox.
Dial pad: send messages or call colleagues on your device anytime. Automatically view recent messages or save a new contact directly from Gmail.
DocuSign (coming soon): Sign and fulfill contracts, agreements and other documents right in Gmail with the DocuSign add-on.
Hiring: Add candidates, manage candidate information, and upload resumes without leaving Gmail. You can access complete job applications from the Hire add-in.
Intuit QuickBooks Invoicing: Create and send professional invoices right in Gmail. Let customers pay you online and track invoice status and payments wherever you are.
ProsperWorks: Easily access prospect or customer data, and log activity during calls, demos and meetings. You can also scan related opportunities, tasks and events.
RingCentral: View online / offline status of RingCentral contacts, view recent call history, make outgoing calls (requires RingCentral for mobile), and view and send SMS messages.
Smartsheet: Add email content and desired attachments directly to Smartsheet without leaving Gmail.
Streak: Add conversation threads to deals, view extended contact information, and quickly reply in snippets right from Gmail using the Streak add-on.
Trello: Turn email into actionable tasks in Trello to give your team an overview of the work that needs to be done.
Wrike: Create Wrike issues from emails, view and update issue details, and send and receive comments on Wrike issues.
For some of them, Gmail support has already been configured. I’ve been using Streak with Gmail for years and it doesn’t seem like the “add-on” brings anything new to the experience. However, the add-on feature makes the adding process a bit easier, and having apps running on both desktop and Android is pretty reliable.
If you would like to add any of these to your Gmail, you can find them all in the G Suite Marketplace .
To add one of the services, you just need to click on it in the Marketplace and then select “Install” on the service product page.
It took less than 10 seconds for Trello to be added to my inbox, and I’m thrilled to be able to use it in my inbox in the future.
