Use Meditation to Finally Filter Out Your FOMO

When we collected our staff’s weekly updates last Friday, our editors unraveled pesky headphone cords, basked in crime TV, baked puff pastry, and finally closed extra browser tabs.

This week we’re going to take advantage of the subscription service, experiment with new meditation patterns, add extra exercise to our routines, and explore the world of Batman pajamas.

What updates have you made this week? Let us know in the comments.

Put your work lunch on autopilot

My update is MealPal’s meal order service again. A few weeks ago, I was disappointed that he controls my life, so I unsubscribed. I immediately reverted to my bad habit of putting off lunch until three to write * another blog post *, or skip lunch altogether. It turns out that by forcing me to go for food at a certain time, MealPal keeps me on schedule.

Counteract Fear with Mindfulness Meditation

I usually struggle with meditation, but I found one guided practice that really speaks to me: Tara Brac’s meditation on FOF (fear of failure) and FOMO, two common fears that, according to clinical psychologist Brac, “can block our entire our potential. … “I loved hearing her talk about the urge to” do something to be finished. ” Does anyone else feel this too? The meditation takes place in the last six minutes of the episode.

Support your iPad for easy reading

My weekend mornings start early with a hot cortado combined with a quick walk around the block with the dog in tow. When I get home, I flop on the couch to enjoy a vintage anime on my iPad while my partner sips morning coffee with She-Ra on TV (perfectly aged). Of course, holding the iPad in my hands for almost an hour is exhausting, and I don’t particularly like to put its display so close to my eyes, especially since I wear glasses. Since then, I’ve gotten rid of the deadweight (tablet, stupid) and attached my iPad to what I’ll call my third hand. I bought a flexible arm tablet mount that fits snugly against my coffee table. It comes off easily, maintains the cozy aesthetic of my apartment during the work week, and supports the weight of my iPad in various positions. I can sit on the sofa and enjoy the view without holding it in my hand. It also makes FaceTime calling easy as I don’t have to worry about camera angles.

Upgrade to Jamie Superheroes

I stole my boyfriend’s Batman pajamas this week . They are warm, cozy and, since they are all one piece, they do not slip or fall even a little.

Take an extra walk on your day

I started walking around the block every morning. I live in the suburbs and work from home, so I never had to walk. I try to make an exercise schedule, but sometimes I’m busy and I feel like I can’t fit into it. The walk around the block is so beautiful that I feel stupid if I haven’t thought about it before: it takes me eight minutes. Nothing like this. And if I need to clear my head in the middle of the morning or at lunchtime, I can do it again.

Take ramen extra spicy

I was introduced to this spicy ramen and it’s fantastic. Perfect for both spicy food lovers and instant ramen lovers!

Take advantage of film season on the cheap

We wrote about MoviePass when it launched its crazy $ 10 / month unlimited deal in August, but I only bothered to sign up this week. I’m still waiting for my card, but already planning all the films I want to go to, especially as the season of awards bait is heating up. It’s impractical to use in some of the smaller Brooklyn theaters that I usually go to, but it’s perfect for solo theater performances after working in Manhattan. And since tickets here usually cost around $ 15 apiece, if I go to even one movie this month it will pay off.
