Lightweight Halloween Costumes That You Can Make With Your Kids (Regardless of Their Age)

Halloween is a holiday that many kids are looking forward to, and aside from the candy, most of the fun is collecting their all-important costume. If you tend to go the DIY route, here are some trendy and classic costumes that you can sew with your kids, regardless of their age.

Age under five and under

At this age, most of the help you get is with your child trying on a suit or choosing a color. If they have enough attention, ask them questions or show them what you are doing to get them involved.

  • Pumpkin :This video tutorial shows you how to make a pumpkin costume from a T-shirt and some other accessories. This version is easily adaptable to different ages / sizes. If you have a very young child, you can use an orange jumpsuit instead. If you want something more similar to what is shown above, glue a pair of glasses onto your shirt or jumpsuit.

From five to ten years

Young children are easiest to help with simple costumes, especially if they have one or two pieces that the child can make on their own. Instruct your child to choose the materials for the suit.
