How to Disable the Bixby Button on a Galaxy S8 or Note 8
I have been using Samsung Note 8 for about a month. I love the phone display and camera, but I am constantly annoyed by the Bixby button on my phone. A dedicated button on the left side of the phone is for quick access to your personal assistant. This is great if you want to use it often. However, if you’re clumsy like me, you end up accidentally tapping it every time you try to turn down the volume on your phone, pull it out of your pocket, or when you try to take a picture. .. indeed almost every time you hold your phone.
I end up accidentally hitting the button at least once a day, but most likely anywhere from 5 to 500 times, depending on the day. I sometimes like the idea of using Bixby, but heck, I hate where that button is.
Good news for me (and for you if you are annoyed too): you can disable the button by going to Bixby Home (launching Bixby), then in settings (the gear icon in the upper right corner), and then in Bixby. Press the key, and then select Open Nothing from the drop-down menu.
If you have the latest version of Bixby installed, this might be even easier for you. In the settings menu on my phone, there was a card at the top right that allowed me to turn off the button.
With this workaround, you can still use Bixby by swiping right from the left side of your phone screen (so it’s still very easy to find it), but nothing happens when you press that Bixby button anymore.
