Stay Fit Modeled After the Royal Canadian Air Force

Feeling flabby sitting at your desk? This is exactly the problem that this set of exercises was designed to prevent. We mentioned this before – a 5BX workout designed for the RAF. But today we are pleased to present these famous exercises to you in the form of a video (for example, a film strip).

This program was popular for decades after the film and its booklet were shot. Ruth Bader Ginsburg used to do this before starting her more famous exercises , and girlfriend Kate Middleton told the tabloid in 2012 that the Duchess does it too . Be sure to watch at 9:15 am for a demonstration of exercises that are difficult to understand from the written instructions.

Before you get out of your chair to do these exercises, it’s fair to warn you that the straight-legged squat in Exercise 2 is out of fashion because it squeezes the spine ; crunches and planks are the modern equivalent. The Royal Canadian Air Force stopped using these exercises – Wikipedia says in 2008, but I cannot confirm – so proceed at your own risk.
