How to Find Out Who Left Your Facebook Friend Request Stuck

While some people send Facebook friend requests to everyone they happen to meet during the day, I try to limit my friend list on the site to only people I am actually friends with. This means that I currently have over 242 pending friendship requests from people like that guy I met at a wedding 10 years ago and the girl I rode the bus with in 7th grade, but never did not speak.

Leaving a friend request on hold has always seemed like a respectful move. I’m not saying no to the friendship of these people, I just haven’t seen a request … for ten years. And they will probably never realize that I left it there, right? Wrong. If you’re a sender , Buzzfeed pointed out this week that you can actually see who left you hanging on the site (if it’s me, I’m sorry).

To see what pending friend requests you have, click the friend icon at the top of your Facebook page (the place where you accept all these new requests) and then select Find Friends.

The page will load with all the people who are currently waiting to become your friend. At the top, there is a tiny “View Submitted Requests” button. Click on it and you will see which requests you have submitted but have not been approved.

It was rather unpleasant for me. I have three pending consideration, one guy who was part of my 12th grade dining team, who I might have left hanging too (touch, sir). The other two appear to be friends who have completely removed their Facebook presence. Or I decided to befriend two people with no photos and no names that just seem like jumbled letters.

If you have several on your list, you don’t want to wait (or if you want to resubmit it to get their attention and possibly double your opt-out), you can click the Friend Request Sent button next to the name person. to cancel your request and free you to send another.
