Make Your Facebook Feed More Attractive (If Not Less Annoying)
The last time we checked our staff’s weekly updates , our editors rejoiced in the joy of radio, investing in outdoor adventure gear, experimenting with lunch subscriptions, and smearing various foods with garlic honey.
Our self-improvement efforts this week range from kitchen tricks to beauty tips to immersion in the vast world of role-playing games.

Customize your Facebook experience
“This week I finally installed Better Facebook , a Chrome extension that lets you customize Facebook colors, fonts, ads and notifications just the way you like. Start off by getting rid of that offensively bland blue headline and your day will be much better. ” – Melissa Kirsch, Editor-in-Chief
Foam will keep you out of trouble
“I have a terrible case of body problems in the workplace – narrow shoulders, stiff neck, narrow hips, generally poor lower back, narrow hamstrings, and so on. Going to yoga several times a week helps, but I think daily grooming is really the key to warding off the ravages of time. With that in mind, I finally rushed to get the foam roller to have it at home (I bought it for $ 13.50 on Amazon Prime ). I’m still working to make this a daily habit every morning and every night, but doing a few basic movements (specifically for the upper back, quads, and hamstrings) for a couple of minutes a day is surprisingly good. the difference is narrower. “- Virginia K. Smith, Managing Editor
Find an easier way to get to know RPGs
“I started running a pen-and-paper RPG for my friends called Fate Accelerated Edition : it takes all the fun stuff from other RPGs like making cool characters, acting out things and thrilling adventures, but it gets rid of many complex rules and systems. so you can just focus on the story you want to tell you and your friends. Highly recommended if you’ve always wanted to play something like Dungeons & Dragons, but have always feared how difficult it is! “- Patrick Allan, Staff Writer
Always keep a stock of hard-boiled eggs in the refrigerator
“After doing a ton of hard-boiled eggs for storytelling earlier this week , I found that having hard-boiled eggs significantly improves my quality of life as they are a quick source of protein that I can eat without stopping. and cook whatever. They are delicious and I can have spiced eggs for dinner just like the night before. – Claire Lower, staff writer
Place a “collecting bowl” by the front door
“Last week I finally got tired of the daily hunt for lost glasses and my wallet before heading to work. The whole “trace your steps” method of finding my values was tired, and I felt like wasted seconds accumulate over time. So I added a small collection bowl to my house, right next to my door. Now I come home, dump the essentials in a basin, and deal with detritus appropriately thanks to a small trash can tucked away in a nearby corner. A week has passed, and I still have not lost any of the essentials. I don’t miss hunting for my wallet either. ” – Patrick Austin, Staff Writer
Open your pores with charcoal
“This is my first time doing a face mask with peeling charcoal and it was both perplexing and disgusting to see the icicle-like lines of debris that have been on my face all these months (years?). My husband did this too, and he showed me the remains of his mask. We looked at each other at white dots in the sun. (Yeah, it’s an affair after seven years.) My skin has softened and I plan to do it again in a week or so. I used this mask, but there are tons of different options on the Internet. ” – Michelle Wu, staff writer
