How to Recycle and Donate Leftover Eclipse Points
Now that the eclipse is over, next time you’ll be pulling out those sexy paper glasses in 2024. Instead of throwing them in the trash can or using them to further litter your desk drawer, here’s what to do with your glasses:
Donate to them
The best thing to do with your used glasses (in my opinion) is to hand them over to Astronomers Without Borders. The group is collecting glasses to distribute to students in South America and Asia when the eclipse begins in 2019. In this way, you will pass on the amazing experience you had to your child for him to enjoy. They haven’t posted an address to send them to yet, but stay tuned for more information on the group’s Twitter page:
Recycle them
If you just want to throw your glasses away, throw them in the trash can instead of trash. Remove the lenses from them before you do this, it’s just that this part of traditional cardboard glasses is not recyclable. Or, you know, you can always use them as a super attractive sleep mask on your next flight.
Show them
Has the eclipse changed your life? Place glasses in a frame or put them in a scrapbook as a memory of an important day. Bonus: you can find them in 2024.
