Find Out How Many Total Eclipses Will Happen in Your Life
In the aftermath of yesterday’s big eclipse, many people are asking the crucial question: When will it happen again? The Washington Post has created a tool to help you find out.
It doesn’t matter if you were mesmerized by this amazing sight or in need of a makeover because you forgot to buy glasses this time around, the once-in-a-lifetime event is actually pretty far from it. There is a total eclipse somewhere in the world roughly every two years, so if you have an eclipse-chaser bug, you will likely have a number of opportunities to get rid of it for the rest of your life.
With this tool, you simply enter your year of birth and the site will tell you how many total eclipses are expected for the rest of your life and where there will be many. For me, if I live to be 100 (which is ambitious given how much I love cheese and hate running), I have 44 more chances to see a total solar eclipse. Most of these options will be in South America and Asia, and one will be over water (time to plan this cruise!).
The next total solar eclipse in the United States will occur in 2024 and will cover only the eastern part of the country. The next total eclipse from coast to coast will occur in 2045.
And if you want to relocate to a location in the United States with better eclipse viewing opportunities, Tallahassee is honored. Florida will have a total eclipse in 2045 and 2052. By 2117, he will see a total of four eclipses, more than any other area in America from 1917 to 2117.
