IOS: Microsoft Is Killing Word Flow Keyboard – Here’s How to Replace It

When you installed Microsoft Word Flow keyboard on your iPhone, you probably thought it was an app or extension. It turns out that it was an “experiment” , an experiment that is now “complete” and you need to switch to the new keyboard.

The safest bet is the SwiftKey , which Microsoft bought early last year and which recently caught up with the standard 3D Touch cursor keyboard and over 100 languages supported. Multi-language typists can even switch languages on the fly, and SwiftKey will detect the change.

We also recommend Google’s Gboard , which offers instant search and dictation. While SwiftKey sends your typing data to its servers to process settings, Gboard leaves all your typing data (excluding search and dictation entries) on the keyboard.

Unlike Word Flow, none of these keyboards shrink to the side for one-handed typing (you’ll need Fleksy or Minuum for this). But both offer swipe input which (after a little practice) is much faster than one-handed tap.

To enable the new keyboard, after booting, go to Settings> General> Keyboard> Keyboards> Add New Keyboard, add the keyboard, then select it again and turn on Allow Full Control.
