The Easiest Way to Learn to Juggle
If you’ve always wanted to learn how to juggle, you’ll be happy to know that it’s actually quite easy to learn. All you need is a little patience and a few plastic bags.
In the above video from YouTube channel SlickJuggling, David Slick, the world record for longest juggling, shows how most jugglers start their journey: with scarves. That’s right, if you want to learn to juggle, you throw floating scarves instead of balls, rings, clubs, pins, or fire.
Your practice is simple. Sit on the ground. Start with two scarves – one on the ground to your left and the other in your left hand. Now throw the scarf in your left hand to the right, and take the one that is on the ground. Repeat on the other side and you have the basic mechanics. Now add a third scarf. Take two scarves and place one on your left side. Throw the scarf in your left hand, lift the scarf on the left, throw the scarf in your right hand, take the scarf on the right. Throw, lift, throw, lift, etc. In the end you will be fast enough to throw and catch them while they are hanging in the air.
Best of all, you don’t need to buy special juggling scarves. You can use grocery store plastic bags as they are just as light and easy to grab. Over time, you will be able to move on to balls or bean bags using the same technique. When you’re ready to get up and do this, or try harder things, try standing over the bed to make it easier. Keep up the good work and you will become a world class juggler in no time.
