Earn Miles by Linking Your Lyft and Delta Accounts
Fact: I use a lot more Lyfts than airplanes. However, I now earn miles for both classes. In May, Delta quietly announced a new partnership with Lyft that allows passengers to earn a mile for every dollar spent on car sharing.
To close the deal, you just need to link your Lyft account and Skymiles account . When you do, every ride you take with Lyft will automatically be credited to your Delta account. That’s all. If you have a Skymiles account and are using Lyft, there is no reason not to.
Since I take a ton of Lyfts to work meetings and around town, I’ve amassed about a hundred extra miles in the last month doing this. Granted, it will take a long time to get an award ticket when I earn five or ten miles at a time (and it might not be for you if you never fly), but the extra miles can be just tiny. I will need boost later to get a specific ticket.
There is currently no limit on the number of miles you can earn with the Lyft promotion. There is also a time-limited promotion that gives you 3 miles for every dollar you spend traveling to and from the airport.
Pro tip: If you pay for your Lyft rides with your bonus card, you can reap the benefits of double. I have a bonus credit card linked to my Lyft account, so I already earned miles when I traveled prior to the promotion. Now my mileage balance is growing a little faster.
