Get Rid of Strong Kitchen Odors With These Simple Tricks

If you live in a small space, even the smallest odor can be a big problem. My apartment is set up like this: whenever we decide to make bacon for breakfast, the whole apartment smells of bacon, at least the rest of the day, and sometimes the next. If you like the smell of bacon, that’s great. However, on the second day, I usually look for ways to replace the scent with something more neutral.

If you’re like me and need to get rid of the smell of your breakfast, or you’re just looking for ways to keep the smell a little better in your kitchen overall, here are some ways to make things more manageable than just lighting a few candles or opening a window:

Make coffee

Regardless of what you cooked up in the kitchen, my guess is that your espresso machine can handle it, especially if you grind the coffee first.

Turn your oven into an air freshener

There is a reason realtors like to bake cookies before people come to see the house. Baking cookies is a quick way to replace what your kitchen smells like for a delicious dessert.

If you don’t have cookies on hand, you can repeat this experiment by preheating the oven to 200 degrees, turning it off, and leaving the baking sheet with a teaspoon of butter, a little sugar, and cinnamon on a piece of tin foil. This. Leave the mixture in the oven for a few hours and the scent will help get rid of the odor. You can also bake an apple core or banana peel over the same low heat to enhance the flavor.

Soak cotton balls in vanilla extract

This is what my grandmother did. I always thought it was strange, but it works and uses things that are probably already in the house. Take a few cotton balls, soak them in vanilla extract and spread them around the kitchen.

Boil cloves

If you have whole cloves, try boiling them on the stove for a quick fix. You can get a similar effect by boiling cinnamon sticks, lemon peel, or orange peel.
