Export Your Bookmarks From Delicious to Pinboard (or Anywhere Else)

In a blog post press release , Pinboard, the world’s best social bookmarking site for introverts, announced the acquisition of Delicious , the unwanted stepson of bookmarking platforms, from Delicious Media, the company that acquired Delicious from Science in 2016. the company that bought it from AVOS in 2014, the company that bought it from Yahoo in 2011, the company that bought Delicious in 2005. This means that you will have to move those bookmarks about how to learn how to bake a cake, film a wedding, etc. or what you think you will end up clicking on.

Pinboard founder Maciej Ceglowski did not reveal what he plans to do with Delicious other than making it a read-only site. You will still be able to access previously added bookmarks, but adding new ones will be out of the question since June 15th. You will be able to export your Delicious data to either Pinboard or another bookmarking service. Cheglowski said the purchase was motivated in part by a desire to make sure “it doesn’t disappear from the Internet.”

“Note that there is no time of pressure to move away the Delightful. You won’t be able to save new bookmarks after June 15th, but everything else will continue to work or break as usual. “

If you are laying out reading material, then you are doing it wrong. Use a service like Instapaper , Pocket, or Flipboard to finish reading. For everything else, bookmarking is the best way. Syncing them is easy if you do it right. By doing it right, I mean paying for it.

If you don’t really want to part with $ 11 a year for a bookmarking service, you can always take the free route. Google offers its own service to sync bookmarks with its accounts so that you can see them anywhere and on any device as long as the Chrome browser is installed. Apple devices allow you to sync your bookmarks through Safari. Free bookmark syncing services do exist, but Delicious’s troubles were caused precisely by this premise. Free is not the best option if you are looking for long-term service in the service of your choice, especially if it is not associated with a large corporation.

Don’t try to compete with Pinboard.
