Build Your Own Sidekick Style Raspberry Pi Mobile Computer
Do you miss the days of yourSidekick , possibly one of the best-worst-best phones ever to hit the market? NODE will show you how to build a mobile Raspberry Pi machine that should help with this desire if you don’t care about the actual part of the phone.
It uses the new Raspberry Pi Zero W , a 3D-printable case, and an old iPhone 5 keyboard case. It’s all welded together to add a full-size USB port that still has access to HDMI, battery charging port, and more.
NODE has been trying to create the perfect portable Pi for a while, its first iteration using the Raspberry Pi A + and its second upping the ante with the Raspberry Pi 2 and remains one of my favorite Raspberry Pi projects to this day. I haven’t had time to make one for myself yet, and now I’m not sure which of these two I want to try doing for myself in the first place.
Each of NODE’s iterations has slightly improved or modified the original concept. In this round, the project is packaged in a 3D printed case instead of a few redesigned and commercially available parts, which seems like a much higher concept than the first two.
There are also several different small screen options available for Raspberry Pi operating systems, so you should be able to find something that works for what you want to do.
