If You Miss Richard Simmons Do His Latest YouTube Workout
Training guru Richard Simmons hasn’t taught lessons or released videos for the past few years. (He might be a victim of witchcraft or just a sore knee, depending on who you ask .) But you can still enjoy his latest workout on YouTube.
The workout includes eight videos of five minutes each, and you can watch the first seven using this playlist . For recovery, you can either do the warm-up again (this is a double function), or skip to theeighth video, which has teary positive statements. “Forgive the offense,” he tells us. And don’t forget – you are worth more than all the rainbows in the sky and all the pearls in the ocean.
The three videos are exciting dance moves. Nothing fancy or complicated, although the camera work makes it difficult to see exactly what Simmons is doing. It took me a minute to realize that this was just a variation of one of several basic movements, and then I went along with Richard and his team.
After cardio, there are three videos of strength dumbbell movements. I used five pound dumbbells, which seemed too light at first and almost correct by the end. If you’re new to training, this is good strength training. If you’re in the habit of pumping up a lot of iron, these videos aren’t a substitute for a gym session, but might be a good option to do a little exercise on your recovery day. As Richard says, every time you exercise, you say to your body, “I love you.”
And if you just want a quick workout that can be done in five minutes, pick one of the videos – likeCardio One – and sweat while Richard Simmons calls you cute pony.
