Apple Roses Are As Easy to Make As They Are Beautiful.
While there is something wholesome and soothing about making a finicky and time-consuming dessert, I would be lying if I said I don’t like light but still fancy sweets. Apple roses are not only deliciously warm and soothing, they are simply beautiful and easy to make.
My boy Justin Chapple walks you through the process in the video above, but all you need is a few apples, some puff pastry, cinnamon sugar, and apricot jam. Cut the apples into thin semicircles and the dough into 12 even rectangles. Brush some jam – dilute it with water first – and place the apple slices on top of the dough so that they look like petals. Sprinkle this mess with a little cinnamon sugar, fold the bottom of the dough over the apples, and roll it into a rose. Place the fruit flowers in a muffin pan and bake at 325 ℉ for about 45 minutes. Sprinkle with powdered sugar and serve to your guests with a touch of smugness and the words, “Oh, that took my time!”
