This Video Shows You How to Hold the Camera to Avoid Camera Shake.

A shaky camera means blurry photos, and while some cameras and lenses have built-in stabilization, it doesn’t hurt to make sure you’re holding the camera the right way. This video shows you how to do it.

As Photography Life explains, blurry photos are produced by moving the camera, especially at slow shutter speeds. What is the easiest way to prevent this? Learn how to properly hold your camera to keep it stable. They demonstrate in detail how to do this in the video above, but here are some helpful tips.

  • Make sure your feet are perpendicular to the object: this gives you more balance because there is less forward and backward movement than when standing parallel to the object.
  • Squeeze your elbows : make sure your elbows are at your sides. This way, your body keeps them steady and you won’t flutter them.
  • Exhale : Exhale before pressing the shutter button. This way, your body will not move as much as it would with heavy breathing.
