This Map Shows the Areas Most Likely to Be Hit by Earthquakes in 2017.

Earthquakes have always been dangerous in places like California, but now other parts of the US are susceptible to man-made earthquakes. This map by the US Geological Survey shows where you are at risk.

Of the four million people living in earthquake-prone areas, only half a million owe this risk of natural earthquakes. Others, especially in Oklahoma and Kansas, need to worry about earthquakes caused by oil and gas operations (such as hydraulic fracturing ) that pump wastewater into deep underground wells. However, not all of these injection wells cause earthquakes, and scientists are still trying to figure out what exactly causes these earthquakes.

The US Geological Survey discusses the scientific evidence behind their earthquake predictions at the link below, so check it out if you want to know more about the risks of US earthquakes.
