Store Fresh Herbs in a Rolled Paper Towel for Easy Access Throughout the Week
A simple sprinkle of fresh herbs can elevate homemade food to restaurant-grade heights, but washing, drying, and grinding before each meal can take a little time. Luckily, Bon Appetit has a once-a-week cooking method with which you can enjoy fresh herbs all week long.
Start by trimming the ends of the stems and rinse the trimmed herbs well in a large bowl of water, drain and refill until the water is clear. Dry them – either in a salad mixer or outdoors – then place them on slightly damp paper towels, roll them up and place them in a plastic bag for storage. When you’re ready to use the pure herbs, just unfold a paper towel a little and grab what you need. These fragrant green things will last for a week if stored this way, but you are probably using them before.
