Rest of the Day: Twitter Now Lets You Turn Off All Eggs
In an ongoing effort to tackle abusive users and harassment on the site, Twitter will now allow you to mute all users who do not have avatars, i.e. eggs. About this and much more in today’s news.
- Many anonymous Twitter users who write offensive language about people never bother changing their avatar from the default egg image, so Twitter is adding a filter that lets you turn them off from your notifications . You can also mute users who haven’t verified their email or phone address (another common trait of abusive users with multiple accounts), or mute certain words from your notifications. [Twitter]
- Gmail users can now receive email attachments up to 50MB in size. This exceeds the 25 MB file size limit. Unfortunately, 25MB is still the limit for file uploads; Email is a very inefficient way to transfer large files, but we do it anyway. [GSuite Updates]
- Google announced a new feature at this year’s Game Developers Conference that will allow you to try out games on the Google Play store before purchasing them. It’s called Playables and will allow developers to get familiar with the gameplay before making a purchase. It is supposedly a trendy advertisement, but if used effectively, it can be very useful for clients. [The Verge]
- Facebook has released a video app for Apple TV. You can use it to watch Facebook videos from the comfort of your living room, which I personally would never do. Besides Lifehacker videos . There is also a Facebook Video app for Samsung smart TVs . [TechCrunch]
