Use Walking Breaks to “run” Your First 5K Race
A 5K or 5K run is a good goal if you’re starting to get serious about running. But what if you’re not sure you can run a full five kilometers (that’s three miles)? Don’t worry – you can take breaks.
You are definitely not the only one who will stop for a walk. And if you plan on walking, rather than seeing walking as some kind of failure, you will be able to control your pace while maintaining a positive attitude. I alternated running and walking for the first three races I have ever run, and returned to this strategy in my marathon.
