Four Questions to Help You Understand If You’re Making the Right Decision
Every person is faced with many difficult decisions in their daily life , from changing jobs to breaking up with a loved one, and the lack of confidence in the correctness of their decision can paralyze. The next time you face a difficult challenge, ask yourself these four questions.
Marie Forleo invites you to ask the following questions so that you feel confident in your choice and can move on:
- How do you feel when you think about the future? When you imagine how you are making a decision, what is your instinctive reaction? Nervousness, fear or indecision and joy are all common reactions that can give you an idea of which side of the fence you fell on.
- What’s the worst case scenario? Consider how your decision could backfire or negatively affect your life. If this happens, are you ready to deal with it?
- What’s the best scenario? Determine the best possible outcome for your solution. Is the payoff worth the potential worst-case scenario?
- Can you try it on a small scale? Find a way to test your decision without making any commitment. For example, if you want to change industries, volunteer for a few months in the industry you are looking at, or reach out to trusted contacts who are already in the industry and choose their brains. If you are considering moving to a new city, take the short trip there and explore as if you already lived there.
You know your situation best, so use these four questions as a guide and consider your personal circumstances as well. Watch the video above to see examples for each question.
