National parks are some of the most scenic and historic places you can visit . National Geographic photographer Jonathan Irish visited all of the US national parks last year to find hidden gems that most travelers rarely reach. He has shared some of his top finds with Travel + Leisure.
The Irishman told the magazine:
Our goal was to celebrate what these parks mean to us, so it was important for us to delve into each park and not just touch on the highlights, but get to the center of the park and find places that most people cannot see. get to.
These are not all secret places, these are just little-known places in popular parks. Some of these include:
- Yosemite National Park : Hatch Hatch Valley : The Irish say it looks like a small Yosemite Valley. It boasts two of the tallest waterfalls in North America, over a thousand feet of granite cliffs.
- Grand Canyon National Park : Bright Angel Camping : This is a more secluded campsite, right next to the Colorado River.
- Capitol Reef National Park : Cathedral Valley : You have to drive about 57 miles on a dirt road to reach it, but you’ll see some of the most beautiful hills and canyons, and it’s also perfect for stargazing.
