If you’re thinking about planning a vacation somewhere in the US for more than a couple of nights, renting a place to stay with services like Airbnb can save you some money. In these states, you will find the best and worst short term rental deals.
Using data from more than 16 million records of housing listings, apartment rentals and other short-term rentals, Datafiniti was able to find the average cost of rent per night for each state. The east coast turned out to be the most expensive, with Rhode Island ranked first at $ 165 a night. Delaware, Maine, New Hampshire and New York barely lagged behind. The cheapest states for vacation rentals are Oklahoma and Kansas (around $ 70 per night), and North Dakota, Illinois, and Iowa in the same price range.
