PSA: Reset Roku Before Selling or Giving Away
If you are transferring your Roku to a new home, there is one important step you must take before you unplug it and send it on the road: restore it to its factory settings.
As How-To Geek explains, your Roku account is linked to your credit card number, which you pay for the rent. More than that:
you’re almost certainly signed into Netflix, Hulu, and many other accounts using your Roku, and you probably don’t want to give your friends lifetime access to these things.
It’s easy enough to reset your device to factory settings. Just go to Settings> System> Advanced System Settings> Factory Settings. However, older versions may not have this option. Skip to the full How-To Geek post, which walks you through the process for older Roku models.
