Control Procrastination Blocks Distractions on IPhone
iOS: A Mac app called Self Control has become famous for taking distraction blocking seriously – you couldn’t just turn off the app or restart your computer to make it go away. Now, an app inspired by the original has arrived on the iPhone, offering a similarly serious approach to focus on what’s important.
Control Procrastination is not affiliated or affiliated with the same team behind the original Self Control for Mac, but the developer was inspired by the original for its iPhone version. However, it works the same way – just add any domain or URL to the app’s blacklist, and then when you save it, it will block those pages in Safari with a simple error message that the page was blocked by a content blocker.
You can remove the blocked page from Control Procrastination at any time and it will be displayed again. It will ask you if you are confident, giving you the moment of pause you need to stop and think about if you have something better to do right now than reading what you are about to unlock, but as soon as it is unlocked, you are free to do what you want. Likewise, you can turn it off completely whenever you want. On the other hand, there is no time limit: after adding a site, it is blocked until you delete it.
The app is a bit radical, but depending on how hard it is for you to focus, or if you have a bad habit of sticking to your phone when you have to do other things, it might help you give you the boost you need to break that habit. The app costs two dollars, click on the link below to check it out.
Update: This app was previously called Self-Control because it was based on the unaffiliated Mac app of the same name. This article has been updated to reflect its new title.
