Soothe Yourself by Counting Backwards From 300 to Three
Mental exercise is a great way to get away from your day’s worries and catch the train for a nap in the city . But counting sheep the old fashioned way is n’t as effective as it could be . Here’s what you should do instead.
In this video from the Business Insider YouTube channel, Dr. Michael Breus , Sleep Doctor and Fellow of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine , shares his best tips for falling asleep faster. We’ve talked about some of these before, like keeping an alarm diary , but Breus has an interesting take on the old sheep-counting approach. Instead of counting one at a time, he suggests that you count backwards from 300 to three (300, 297, 294, etc.). The process is hard enough for your brain that you can’t think of anything else and it’s boring. Two things that are sure to help you finally get a little bit of shooting.
