Available Places to Visit This Year, Depending on When You Are Traveling
Recently , there has been a trend towards cheaper flights and some destinations are cheaper than others. Of course, prices can vary slightly depending on when you are traveling. LearnVest compiles a monthly list of the most affordable places to visit this year.
We’ve told you a few of the most affordable locations this year overall , but LearnVest goes further and breaks them down by month. They used flight and hotel pricing information from sites such as goSeek and momondo , as well as travel information from travel guide editorial director Frommer . Here’s what they found overall over the next few months:
February: Puerto Rico: “You’ll likely spend at least $ 100 less on airline tickets than if you were flying to most of the other Caribbean tourist favorites. In addition, accommodation can be half the price. Depart before Spring Break in March and April to save an additional 20% or more on four and five star hotels. ”
March: Cabo San Lucas, Mexico: “The weather is mild, the waves are warm, and it’s whale watching season now, but you’re missing out on spring break. (Think: $ 400 round trip from New York versus $ 650 during the tourist season.) The US dollar has never been stronger compared to the Mexican peso, says Bason. And thanks to a new deal in the air travel market between the two countries, flights are cheaper than ever before, he adds.
April: New Orleans : “In terms of cost, Southwest is aggressively expanding its presence in New Orleans, so their flights are cheap and easier than ever to get to,” says Bason. “You will save up to 50% on airfare in April compared to weeks of major events such as Mardi Gras in February and Jazz Fest in May.”
These are rough estimates, of course, as prices will obviously fluctuate throughout the year (and depending on your hometown), so it’s best to take these results as a general guideline. For a complete list, follow the link below.
