American Airlines Coming Soon to Offer Cheaper Economy Class Fares

Discount airlines like Spirit have forced major carriers to offer cheaper travel options. These “downscaled” options are less expensive than the standard rate, but they are even simpler. American is the latest airline to offer a cheaper, unrelated fare.

On split flights, you pay a lower base price for your ticket and then choose which add-ons you want based on whether you need to check your bag, choose a seat, etc. American announced that next month will start selling Basic Economy. It will enter 10 markets and then expand throughout the year.

They do not say how much cheaper the tickets will be, but they will be less than the standard prices in the main cabin. You will still receive free snacks and drinks, but you will pay $ 25 for checked baggage, you will be in the last boarding group, and you can only bring one personal item (no carry-on baggage). In a press release, the American said:

American Airlines now has something to offer every customer, from those looking for easy travel at low prices to those looking for super-premium first class flights, ”said American Airlines President Robert Isom. “It’s important to note that this new tariff product also empowers Americans to compete more effectively with the growing number of ultra-low-cost carriers.

In the infographic above, you can see how these new fares will differ from the standard fares for the main cabin. For more information, see the press release at the link below.
