Just Open & Type Is a Fast App With Minimal Notes and Journals
iOS: there is no shortage of applications to record your thoughts, but many applications for writing and reference notes are affected by the blow-up functions that interfere with the actual writing. Just Open & Type excludes unnecessary things and lives up to its name.
Just Open & Type, or JOT for short, is not suitable for all types of writing. This is really for when you just want to write a couple of sentences at once, like a fleeting thought that might otherwise be scrawled on a napkin. Every time you open the app, you are immediately presented with a keyboard and a blank screen, so you don’t even need to do anything to create a new note. For an extra layer of privacy, all of your previous notes are protected by a four-digit password, chronologically broken down by day.
The app from designer Pedro Wunderlich is still in early stages of development and lacks a few key features – there is no way to export your notes, although it is considering iCloud syncing and personally a password seems unnecessary since my phone is already locked. But in order to quickly take something off, it works.
