Google Keeps Offline Searches, Finds Results When You Get Service Again
Android: When your phone loses connection, Google search becomes useless. The company wants to fix this. Now, if you do a search when you have no internet connection, your phone will keep the search and try again when you restore service.
Google is rolling out this new feature as part of Google app updates on Android phones. It promises that saving search results for later use will not affect battery life, and offline searches will result in “optimized search results pages” that will have minimal impact on battery usage. Of course, none of this actually helps you until you get back to the service area, but at least you don’t have to mess around with the search over and over again until it works.
