Create Your Own Image Gallery With Chevereto
For many people, Google Photos, Flickr, and other cloud-based image hosting services are ideal for backing up, sharing, and organizing photos in galleries. If you prefer to use a custom solution that you control, or perhaps use it in addition to these cloud services, Chevereto is worth taking a look at.
Chevereto has been around for a long time – it’s not news, really, but interestingly enough, the developer offers both a paid, hosted service that you can subscribe to on their homepage , and Chevereto Free, an open source version of gallery software that you can download from Github (link below), install and run on your own web host. Best of all, they offer an installer that you can run from the internet, or even installation services, so you can make sure your gallery is securely locked and installed correctly.
Chevereto itself is a rich-featured gallery tool. You get beautiful, responsive galleries that look as good on mobile as they do on the desktop, profiles for multiple users, an image downloader so you don’t have to do things in small batches, social features for easy image sharing (and for easy login) and update features as they become available. The entire service is worth taking a look at if you prefer to manage your own photo library but aren’t sure where to start. There is also a paid version of the self-hosting solution that comes with support and a few more features, so check that out too if you are interested in supporting the project.
