Devane and Peel the Shrimp Like a Pro
Peeling and processing shrimp is not rocket science, but too many of us consider it a hassle and just buy cooked shrimp instead. In this video, Chef David Lefebvre shows us how to do it cleanly and how to make a flavorful shrimp boil broth at the same time.
Chef Lefebvre explains that this method is a little more work than just breaking the shell, but you will gain the skills you need to peel and vein at the same time, without any special tools – all you need is a knife. However, the court broth is just a cake and also a great way to cook and flavor shrimp. If you don’t like this preparation method, you can still skip the peel and growth method.
This method is, of course, pretty simple. Take a paring knife and cut the shrimp straight from the top of the shrimp down the back to just above the tail. From there, you can gently open the back of the shrimp and remove the vein or rinse it with a little water. Then pinch the end of the tail and in one move peel the shell around the shrimp ( don’t throw away the shells !) From here you can leave the tail for serving or remove it yourself by simply pulling it (gently!) Away. Click the play button on the video above for a demo.
