The Easy Way to Remove Condensation From Delicate Cakes and Pies
Cheesecakes and custard-based tarts are prone to condensation, especially if you don’t allow them to cool completely before packing and refrigerating. However, there is also an elegant solution associated with a not very elegant item, and that item is toilet paper.
Look, I know what you guys are going to say, but wait a little. As long as you are using a roll that has never been seen from inside the bathroom, there is no problem here; you are simply working with a roll of pulp that has been processed into delicate thin sheets perfect for blotting some desserts tops. As Alisa Medrich explains in the article below, paper towels are not only too rough, but they often have an embossed pattern that can leave an impression on your cake or pie. Using TP in this way is a fairly straightforward process, but it requires a delicate approach:
Just place the pieces of toilet paper directly on the surface of the cake – don’t scrub or scrub – and very lightly run your fingers over the paper to absorb as much moisture as possible. Lift the paper up and repeat with other dry sheets as needed.
Also, I would recommend super cheap stuff for this. Premium super soft toilet paper can be fluffy, and fluffy fluff has no room on a cheesecake.
