Add a Windows Style Start Menu to the Mac Dock

If you’ve recently switched to macOS from Windows, or just missed the old Start menu, How-To Geek shows you how to add a similar feature to your Mac Dock.

The approach here depends on what you like about the Start menu. If you just want quick access to applications, you pretty much just have to drag and drop the Applications folder into your dock. If you want something closer to the Start menu, with different sections for different types of applications, access to specific files, or whatever, then you will need to create a series of aliases within the same folder. This way, you can put all your games in one alias folder, current files in another, and more. It’s a pretty clever way to bring something like the Start menu to your Mac. Check out How-To Geek for details on how to do this.
