Rest of the Day: Leaked Screenshots Reveal Windows 10’s New Design
Microsoft plans to update the Windows 10 interface later this year, adding a few small tweaks and updates to the operating system. These are minor changes, but should make the operating system more enjoyable to use. About this and much more in today’s news.
- MSPoweruser got some screenshots of “Project NEON”, the upcoming Windows 10 UI update. The changes are quite subtle and include new animations and design elements similar to the Windows 7 Aero scheme that make some windows look transparent like frosted glass. It is slightly less flat and blocky compared to the current look of Windows 10. The new look is expected to arrive later this year. [MSPoweruser]
- Cherry has a new silent mechanical keyboard. The MX Board Silent is based on the G80-3000 combined with the latest version of their silent switches, delivering all the clicky feel of a mechanical keyboard without knocking. But honestly, isn’t the rumble part of the attraction? However, it is currently only available in the international EU layout. [Cherry]
- Recalled GoPro drones can be secured with a piece of tape. It looks like a life hack. According to CEO Nick Woodman, the malfunction that caused the drones to fall from the sky was simply a misalignment of their batteries. Which would be easy to improvise for, but they are still withdrawn, so you just have to send them back. [TechCrunch]
- Speaking of camera drones, drone maker DJI is rumored to be buying a majority stake in renowned camera company Hasselblad. Ownership of the company has previously changed hands, although it is not yet known (winks) if DJI wants to use its camera technology or Hasselblad will operate as an independent subsidiary. - Did you know that Mac hardware is filled with coins? Jackpot! Lots of people found pennies on Apple SuperDrive, and one user even found a quarter on a Macbook Pro back in 2010. (Sounds like an impromptu solution when assembling a product, if I had to guess – stop the vibration by adding a spacer to make things tight. Or maybe it’s just kids stuffing something into the computer.) [Gizmodo]
