Stop Chronically Late by Changing Your Must Be Busy Mindset

There are many reasons why people are chronically late , but one of the most visible may be your desire to be constantly productive or busy. You need to find a way to do nothing normally.

Quartz’s Georgia Francis King says she’s constantly late but is trying to change that in the new year. Here’s her approach:

… I’m going to start feeling comfortable with the thought of staying still. I will learn to sit alone for 10 minutes, even if that means the bath will remain unbleached, emails will not be sent, and Instagram images will not be posted. I’m not a superhuman cyborg, and life isn’t just a long to-do list. For maximum efficiency, you don’t need to plan every minute of the day.

Leaving early may not be the most efficient use of your time – especially when it seems like you have a million things to do on your to-do list – but it almost always ensures that you are where you say you are on time. Sit back, just sit and wait 10 minutes, and you no longer have to rush or be nervous.
